The administrative records for the Board of Adjustment depict the internal operations of the state when a suit was filed against the State of Alabama. Included in this series are letters of transmittal, issued monthly, to the State Comptroller, listing the decrees rendered by the Board in the settlement of claims. The lists include the name of the claimant, the claim number, the amount, and the name of the state department against which the suit was filed. Also included are duplicates of docket sheets, disposition lists, letters of transmittal to various state departments, copies of the Board's minutes, the Boards's annual financial reports, and the Board's general correspondence. Other records include allotment status reports, suits filed against the state in the name of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty, consents (also referred to as awards), lists of warrants being prepared, descriptions of decisions made by the Alabama Supreme Court, and resolutions by the Board. The administrative files have different colored labels, just like the claims case files, with each color usually pertaining to a specific governor's administration.
